Dora the Explorer Party

Saturday, we had our now 3 year olds Dora the Explorer party. I had a big Dora Adventure plans but they all went by the wayside as I wasn't feeling up to much. The invitations was the Map from the Nick Jr site. The outside said "I'm the map. I'm the map. I'm the map. I'm the map. Childs name's turning three for details come to me. I'm the map. I'm the map. I'm the map. I'm the map!" Inside said, "Where are we going? (child's name) party." Then I printed the information at the little stops Dora would go to. I hope that makes sense. I made Dora Princess hats out of cone shaped hats and some tissue papper. They loved them. I printed some Dora pictures from the Nick Jr. website. I think they had more fun coloring those than almost anything else we did. Then we played a Dora game where they had to "pin" the flower on Dora's bracelet. We had Dora cupcakes on Dora plates with plastic valentine cups I bought at the dollar store (5/$1.oo). We opened her presents just before the parents showed up so there wasn't too much of "Let's play with this toy!" We sent the guests home with Dora bubbles (from the dollar store), Dora stickers (from the dollar store), a ring pop (having to do with the Dora Adventure) a Dora bracelet, a Dora game (2/$1.00 at the dollar store), and a Dora whistle. I admit I went totally overboard but there where very few children and the dollar store helped a lot.

I have transportation again!

I was picking up my son from a friend's house and my transmission kept slipping out of gear. It slipped out on my 4 times after I realized what was happening and trying to get it home. I pulled into the driveway but couldn't make it into the garage. I called my son's friend's mom and asked if she could give him a ride home.
My hubby went to the junk yard and got a transmission. It took him a few days to put it in but he did. Around 11pm just as he finished, he asked me to try it out with him. It didn't work.
He took it back and got another one. It took him two weeks in get it in and ready. This one works. Yay! I don't use it much but I never realized the feeling of freedom it gives me to do what I need/want to when I need/want to. I am so grateful for a husband that knows how to fix so many things.

New Job

I have a new job. I trained at the office for a week and a half then they gave me a computer and I started working from home.

There are ups and downs working from home. First, the downs.

1. No designated time. The work is always there. I don't get to leave it at the office.

2. Distrations. I have to deal with all the home things while I'm working. And if I really don't feel like working, there is always laundry, cooking, cleaning, etc.

3. My pay is based on how many documents I can do in an hour.

4. I listen to books on tapes/CD while driving/sitting in traffic. Don't listen to many anymore.

The Ups

1. I love being home for my children. They are confident that I am here for them.

2. No babysitter. I can work while my three-year-old plays next to me.

3. No designated time. I can work whenever I want as long as I get my hours in.

4. The commute is amazing!

5. I can go to work in my pajamas and no one makes comments.

6. I can rearrange my office anytime I want. I can have an office with or without a window, move my desk just because.

Looks like the pros win.

Baby Turns Three

My baby's birthday is today but we celebrated it yesterday. She is such a Dora freak. She's also discovered Mr. Potato Head and those where her favorite toys this birthday. We are having a small party on Saturday for her "friends" - the cousins that are her same age. She's so excited for that. These are pictures from her family party, grandparents, uncles, etc.
